The songs we write are like the roads we leave behind us in a long shadow sunset on a fall day.....

Our songs are what remain of us after we pass through a place...David Lee Murphy wrote a great song in 1996 called The Road you Leave Behind You. One of my favorite lines in it is “You see the road you leave behind you, is another road you’re gonna have to come back down”. Not only does this line reference the beauty of karma and how it all comes back around to us, it also emphasizes the point that everything we do and all the actions we take represent our beliefs and values. My dream is that some of my songs one day will inspire and create emotional connections with people and when I am gone the songs will continue to do so as well.

The road I am leaving behind me with my music is far more important to me than money, critical acclaim, or awards.

It is my one chance to define Kent Klatchuk, the man, in my own words, melody and rhythm. In a way, I’m writing my autobiography in musical form. I hope that people see in my music that I loved my family dearly, loving life and my wife were a high priority, and that I always tried to bring a positive, energetic and fun attitude to everything I did. My hope is that the road I leave behind will be one that is worthy of walking and riding on. Whatever you CREATE in life, don’t take it lightly. You hold in your hand the actions that will tell YOUR story – if you choose to share it. Don’t hold back. Pour yourself in with everything you have, be vulnerable and authentic as possible . Someone is traveling behind you trying to find the best places to go. Show them the road they want to be on.

Stay in tune and stay in touch.

k.
